FSI has committed to attaining ‘Net Zero’ Emissions by 2050.

One of the fundamental pillars of the current FSI Strategy document is Climate and Sustainability.

Various Laboratories within FSI will be applying for ‘My Green Lab’ Certification, over the course of 2025 and 2026.


FSI is one of a limited number of Organisations, at present, to have attained Smarter Travel Mark status from the National Transport Authority.

FSI has rolling biannual Climate and Sustainability Initiatives Plans, which are implemented by the FSI Green Team.

The current FSI Climate and Sustainability Champion is Dr. Dorothy Ramsbottom, the FSI Director of Corporate Services.


 

 

FSI has produced its first Biodiversity Action Plan. The Plan includes various initiatives for implementation across the FSI site.  

FSI has partnered with Wildacres, an award winning Nature Reserve and Biodiversity Education Centre in South East Wicklow.

FSI has sponsored the production of 10 Handmade Wild Bee Hotels. Wildacres has designed a Bee Hotel which has been very successful at attracting solitary bees to make nests.

Pollinator Friendly Zone

FSI was successful in its application to Biodiversity Ireland to become a Supporter of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan (AIPP). FSI appears as a Supporter of the AIPP on the www.pollinators.ie website

Supporters of the AIPP are organisations who endorse the AIPP and agree to take specific actions to assist.
